Mr. Hurwitz has strong business and personal ties to both his hometown of Brooklyn, NY, and his adopted home of Cleveland, OH. Mr. Hurwitz graduated from the Bernard Baruch School at City College of New York in 1965 with a BA degree in International Trade. Mr. Hurwitz is a serial entrepreneur serving as the board chairman or CEO of many Cleveland-based companies including Incentive Consultants (acquired by Cook United), Office Max (sold to K-Mart), and Homeplace Inc. (sold to a private equity group chaired by G. William Miller (Secretary of the Treasury, Carter Administration)). Mr. Hurwitz is also a founding owner of the Coral Company, which over the last 27 years has grown into a full-service real estate firm providing building management, construction, brokerage, and consulting services. In addition to his business experience in retail and real estate, Mr. Hurwitz has always had an interest in the health care space. He currently serves on the Leadership Council of the Seidman Cancer Center at University Hospitals and the Leadership Council of The Cleveland Clinic Neurological Institute and Clinical Research Program. He was the past Chairman of the Board of the Center of Partnership Medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital of Chicago. He is also a 27-year member of the Visiting Committee of the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University where he enjoys giving annual lectures for both the undergraduate and graduate business school programs.
