About Epidermolysis Bullosa

Treatments

Are There Any Treatments For EBS?

There are currently no approved treatments or medications for EBS. Lifestyle changes centered around prevention and amelioration are currently the best ways to help manage the disease.

Pain and itch can be managed with oral pain and itch medications. Oral antibiotics may also be prescribed to help fight infection. Watch for symptoms of a systemic infection, such as fever and weakness.

Are There New Technologies Being Developed for EBS?

Researchers are studying better ways to treat and relieve the symptoms of epidermolysis bullosa simplex, including:

  • BioMendics MTORX Technology to remove mutant and aggregated keratins and improve EBS skin.
  • Coenzyme Q10 (ubidecarenone) to aid wound healing.
  • Botulinic toxin to treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).
  • Broccoli sprout extract (sulforaphane) to aid wound healing.
  • Cannabidiol potentially for pain and itch.
